What's the ATA Air Conditioning - Diagnostic Technician course about?

Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) is a national voluntary scheme which tests the current competence of individuals working in the retail motor industry.

Two practical assessments cover:
- AC systems service
- Refrigerant cylinder handler
- Air conditioning systems fault 1
- Air conditioning systems fault 2
- Air conditioning systems fault 3

To become an ATA Air Conditioning Diagnostic Technician, you must pass five practical assessments and an on-line knowledge test comprising 60 questions which must be completed in 90 minutes.

What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?

To ensure that you have kept up-to-date with new technologies, you will have to be re-assessed every five years to maintain your accreditation.

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

Before you can take an assessment you must be able to prove your experience of working as an air conditioning diagnostic technician for at two years, or hold a relevant nationally recognised qualification and have a minimum level of post qualification industry experience in an appropriate role for one year.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the ATA Air Conditioning - Diagnostic Technician course?

Once you have achieved your accreditation, your details will be entered on the ATA register of accredited technicians.
