AutoCAD is the industry standard software for 2D drawing and detailing. This course is a basic level qualification for anyone wanting to learn computer aided design using AutoCAD. It includes basic 2D detailing, room plans and layouts, basic engineering drawings, annotation, dimensioning and basic scaling and printing of drawings.
Our learning materials are excellent, stimulating and up-to-date, covering the latest versions of the Autodesk software. They consist of a course book integrated with e-files for easy learning - perfect for independent study.
You will cover the following:
- Use associated IT, CAD hardware and operating system
- Use basic file management techniques and maintain health and safety requirements
- Use and identify key components of the software relating to the 2D drawing environment
- Use a range of viewing commands and set up the drawing space
- Use drawing commands to produce shapes
- Use the CAD software's co-ordinate system to aid accurate drawing
- Use hatch, text and simple dimensioning routines
- Use basic editing commands and produce simple hard copies
This course will be assessed by two assignments covering practical skills and one GOLA online test covering underpinning knowledge.
After successfully completing the course, you may progress on to the City & Guilds Level 3 Award in 2D Computer Aided Design from the 7579-03 scheme.
All learners must have access to a computer suitable for CAD software to carry out home study whilst on the programme. Applicants must be computer literate and have some understanding of basic 2D drawings.
You will be awarded the City & Guilds Level 2 Award in 2D Computer Aided Design (7579-02 scheme).
As the definition of full time and part time can vary from course to course, please check with the tutor as to the exact number of hours study each week this course will entail.
