What's the 17th Edition (BS 7671) course about?

This qualification is aimed at practising electricians with relevant experience and is intended to ensure that they comply with the format, content and applications of the requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671: January 2012 amendment 1). The qualification covers topics such as protection for safety, selection and erection of equipment, and inspection and testing to meet the standards of the IET Wiring Regulations.

The course covers the following:
- Scope, object and fundamental principles
- Definitions
- Assessment of general characteristics
- Protection for safety
- Selection and erection of equipment
- Inspection and testing
- Special installations or locations
- Use of appendices

Candidates will be required to complete a multiple choice online test.

What will I be able to do after I've completed this course?

Successful learners could progress to the City & Guilds' qualifications in Inspection, Testing, and Certification of Electrical Installations (2391).

What qualifications or experience do I need to do this course?

Students will need to have gained a City & Guilds Electrotechnical Technology Certificate Level 3 (2330) as a minimum requirement. Acceptance on to the course will be subject to interview.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the 17th Edition (BS 7671) course?

Students will be awarded the Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671: January 2012) City & Guilds Scheme 2382.
